It's been a long time since I did any significant amount of work on my novel, Soul Reunion, which lets face it is the whole reason I found Writer's Beat and began my wonderful journey into the world of serious authoring.
The Soul Taker series is my very own project. It's a planned series of paranormal romance novels all centred around a brand new type of supernatural being of my own invention. If you look towards the top of my blog I've added a new page called 'My Novels' and there's where I'm sharing the synopsis for each story. There's only two so far, although three further stories have been fleshed out into broad outlines and I hope to add them soon.
Anyway, with the Ripper project, hopefully, about to pick up again I decided it was time to give myself a proverbial kick up the butt and devote some attention to my Soul Takers as well.
Sitting down to edit a completed 80,000+ novel can be heaven or it can be hell. Luckily for me, the story has been with me so long that I am very comfortable with it and my ability to cut the chaff and leave behind a much stronger storyline than the one that just a year ago I had already sent out into the great wide world.
I have a plan in the pipeline to take this story to a vast audience, laying it out for the most harsh critique--shoulder pads on--which is when I will learn if my Soul Takers really do have the potential I have believed in for so long.
I'll keep you posted.

I have heard quite a few writers say they start their day with revisions, as it helps them stir the muse. And it seems to work for me whenever I'm in a rut.
ReplyDeleteAnd good for you on finally dancing with the one who brung ya! Oh, and how's the short fiction coming?
Thanks Joe. Still writing the shorts, not as many as before - not by a long shot - real life doesn't afford me the time, lol.
ReplyDeleteBut enjoying them when the inspiration takes me. Just completed one I hope to sub to a specific call. Waiting to see what crit, if any, I get on it first.
Hows things with you?
That's good to hear, Lor. I know you have major time crunches, with the family and work and everything, so it's good to know you're doing what you can.
ReplyDeleteThings are going pretty well for me, actually. Getting more stories out there, writing more than ever. No acceptances, but that will change soon, I think. I've been doing this Write1Sub1 thing for a couple months now, and in June I"m going to jump up to the weekly challenge, which will be really good for me.
Still collecting rejection slips! Left, right, and center.
I can comment again!
ReplyDeleteAre you planning to self-pub??
I have an entire folder of e-mail rejections now :P
Hey, welcome back, Casper!
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to self-pub. I want to try the traditional approach first, albeit via a very contemporary means.
The UK needs a pararom author, lol and I intend to try and fill that spot. :D
