Today has been one of those rare and wonderful Sundays when I've got lots done and yet still feel completely untaxed. Aside from the children driving me insane, which is just business as usual as far as they're concerned. I've put on a large roast dinner - something I have been failing at as a household matriarch for quite some time - I've cleaned out pets and done lots of laundry, I've tidied away toys and thrown away crap - always a very liberating activty - and I've even managed some time with the book I'm reading.
On top of all that, my reading and crit for Hothouse is now up to date, something I like to keep in check, as some of our team are veritable short-story machines.
And as for my own writing, I think my writing is very much influenced by the genre I happen to be reading, as, in the last couple of days I've turned out a couple of strong human interest stories, which I'm just finishing the editing of.
But I am hungering to create something a little more hot and... paranormal. My long-short has gone cold as it's taking so long. But I feel the need for from powerful brute strength and passion, so watch this space.

I totally agree that writing can be influenced by what you're reading. If I'm reading fantasy, I tend to write fantasy. And the same goes for sci-fi or mainstream.
ReplyDeleteDamn you are a powerhouse. Way to go! It was way, way, too hot here for Washington today and aside from cleaning and organizing the entire kitchen and watching movies with my kids, I got squat accomplished.
ReplyDeleteWhatcha been reading, btw?
